• The right resolution for your event's LED panel 

The resolution of an LED panel is directly related to its size and pixel pitch*, which is the distance of adjacent pixels.  A smaller pixel pitch provides a higher resolution resulting in sharper and more detailed images. 

 *AV Dictionary - Pixel Pitch: The distance between adjacent pixels on an LED display. A smaller pixel pitch means higher resolution.

• How is the resolution of a LED Wall measured?  

Resolution is expressed in width × height, with the units in pixels, e.g. the 50x50cm LED panel, with pixel pitch of 2.6mm, has a resolution of 192x192 pixels. 

• Key factors determining resolution 

One of the most important factors to consider is the recommended viewing distance, i.e. the distance at which attendees should stand from the LED wall for an optimal viewing experience.

• Viewing distance calculations  

There are some general rules for calculating viewing distance and they may vary according to the specific needs of the project: 

• Visual acuity distance or ‘Retina’ distance for LED displays: This is the distance a person with 20/20 vision must be from the LED Wall to stop distinguishing individual pixels.
  
  
• 10x rule for LED displays: Multiply the pixel pitch by 10 to get a quick estimate of the visual acuity distance. 
  
   To make it as easy as possible for you, here is a table of viewing distances that includes calculations of visual acuity distance and average comfortable viewing distance, depending on the pixel pitch from 0.6 mm to 10 mm.
